Character Descriptions and Self-Tape Packages:

Bondini: Male. (16-22): (doesn’t necessarily have to have a passion for crafts but has to be able to make them). Bondini is an explosive maker and doer- the ultimate Super Mighty Maker. Bondini is “The Ultimate Crafter”, the embodiment of a young, cool, aspirational and fun camp counselor, babysitter and sports instructor type that young kids know and love. He embodies a zaniness that will be authentic and cool for 6-9 year olds (lots of Youtube stars like this). He is a superhero of sorts, but not one who flies around with a cape on his back. He is a one-of a kind crafter who wears a homemade uber cool superhero-esque outfit and embraces the way a hero might speak. He is a consummate collaborator and zany enthusiast of D.I.Y. Bondini is a demonstrative, enthusiastic lover of life who revels in helping his friends create. He provides great slapstick when helping the Super Mighty Makers and their friends with their creations. He loves to ideate and also provides the tools of the trade - quick with a glue stick and sharp with the scissors, he has an instinct for the right materials and loves making stuff with kids. The best reference for Bondini- he would have the warmth and humour of Chris Rock, the approachability/authenticity of a camp counselor and the whimsy of Willy Wonka. LEAD

Female (9-12): Talent must look between 8-10 years of age. We are looking for a young girl with grit and bravado. She would have the curiosity and instincts to get to the heart of the Maker Mission, know the questions to ask and have a hunch about what might be a good craft to make. She is empathetic and keeps the others on course with regards to the recipient of the craft and the kid making it. After all, she is the one on the ground and understands the urgency when it comes to kindness. She also has MacGyver like skills of being very resourceful and creative in solving problems. She takes her Maker Mission seriously and can be uber focused but just melts when she sees the craft given to its recipient. A toughie with a soft centre. as for skills- they don’t have to have crafting skills but it would help. Looking for kids who are quick on their feet, could improvise if needed, and are resourceful/creative. These are Bondini’s helpers and Super Mighty Makers in training. They receive calls from regular kids who have identified a need that can be addressed with a kindness craft. They figure out who the kid wants to help and start to formulate ideas on what crafts might address the need. LEAD

Male (9-12): Talent must look between 8-10 years of age. Our Lead male Super Mighty Maker, who is also on the ground, taking calls from kids, is highly imaginative but a little unfocussed because he can see unlimited possibilities for each Maker Mission. He thinks “out-of-the- cardboard box” and suggests whatever craft ideas come to mind, however zany! He is an expert with art materials and figuring out the construction and customization of the craft- however random some of his stuff turns out! He is easy-going and super adept with making things. These are Bondini’s helpers and Super Mighty Makers in training. They receive calls from regular kids who have identified a need that can be addressed with a kindness craft. They figure out who the kid wants to help and start to formulate ideas on what crafts might address the need. LEAD

SYNOPSIS:

The Super Mighty Makers are a small team of “in-the-field” kids who receive calls when a friend in their midst has a problem that can be solved with kindness, through crafting. This is their MAKER MISSION

In every episode, one Super Mighty Maker (SMM) will be the hero(ine) of the day. The SMM kids live in a neighbourhood surrounded by family and friends, just like viewers at home (our at-home SMMs). They are alert, creative and larger-than-life kids on the ready for friends in their lives who want to bestow an act of kindness upon someone.

When they see an opportunity to help, they arrive at the regular kid’s home, figure out details about who the child wants to help and call upon crafting mentor Bondini (male adult) to make the perfect craft for the situation together. When the craft has been completed, the SMM’s accompany their friend back and ensure that the final act of kindness- the giving of the craft- takes place. Another mission completed!

Each episode, a SUPER MIGHTY MAKER will get an alert on their CRAFTPAD about a kid in their neighborhood who needs help with a new mission of kindness. The SMM will get the details and present the mission to Bondini over his Craftpad. Items for the craft are gathered and the SMM and child sparkle up to the awesome Kaboom Balloon. Together with Bondini, they whip up one-of-kind creations sure to make hearts grow. The SMM and child sparkle back down to the neighborhood and the child gives the craft to his/her loved one. Kindness! Joy! Viewers will be inspired to recreate these works of art for their friends and families, and they will feel like heroes!

The craft challenge will always be rooted in someone a child wants to help. His/her kindness challenge should be relatable for all viewers and should have strong emotional resonance, motivating viewers to make the craft themselves, using easy-to-find and recycled materials. However, the crafts should be whimsical in both the desire to help and in the execution. The craft will be unique in that the child who wants to make it will have very specific guidelines about the reason for making it in the first place and how it can be customized for the recipient. Through a “kindness curriculum,” many hot topic socio-affective areas can be touched upon such as: empathy, inclusiveness, anti-bullying, identifying feelings, self-control, and conflict resolution
